National Grid loses Appeal - 21 December 2007
The Chairman of CAPRI, Peter McMurtrie, today issued a statement on behalf of CAPRI, following the decision announced by the Secretaries of State to reject National Grid (Gas) plc’s proposal to build a Pressure Reduction Installation (PRI) at Corse, Gloucestershire:
“We are delighted that the compelling and comprehensive case presented by CAPRI and by the Forest of Dean District Council against National Grid (Gas) plc's proposal to construct a Pressure Reduction Installation (PRI) at Corse has been successful and that planning permission has been refused.
We consider that the Secretaries of State’s decision, made following a Public Inquiry held last April and May, is a proper recognition of the strength of public opposition to the PRI and the validity of the arguments and issues presented by CAPRI at the Public Inquiry when the flawed and damaging proposals put forward by National Grid were subjected to public scrutiny.
We shall now examine in detail the Secretaries of State’s decision and shall issue a further press release in due course.
Public Inquiry now ended - 18 May 2007
The Public Inquiry ended on Friday 18th May 2007.
The Closing Submission made to the Inquiry by Sebastian Head, counsel to CAPRI, can be read by clicking on 'Latest News' on the left.
The Inspectors have indicated that they will submit their reports and recommendation to the Inspectorate on or before 17th August, or earlier if possible. The report and recommendation will then be sent to the Secretaries of State for decision.
