It gives us no pleasure to say that an explosion took place in a 36" gas pipeline at Cleburne, 50 miles from Dallas, Texas on 8th June 2010, killing one person, and that the following day a second gas pipeline explosion occurred in the Texas Panhandle, killing two people.
If someone told you that the chance of a gas explosion occurring was 1 in a million and two such explosions occurred on two successive days, would you believe that they had correctly estimated the probability?
