22 September 2008
Dear Mr McMurtrie,
Pressure Reduction Installation
Thank you for your letter of 5 September 2008. I have read the
letter and noted your views I hope that your visit to the Public
Information evening at Tirley on 9 September and our conversation
helped to address some of your concerns. I do not feel that it is
necessary to prolong the correspondence by responding in detail to
the matters that you have raised. However, in relation to the
representative locations, I confirm that they do not represent
optimum potential sites for the PRI but were identified for the
purposes of comparative evaluation.
I believe that it is important to re-emphasise our commitment to a
genuine consultation process, which has the aim of identifying a
suitable site for our PRI whilst balancing the advantages and
disadvantages of the potential sites. It remains my view that the
process has been fair and thorough and we have welcomed the input of
all parties, including CAPRI.
The Public Information evenings in Corse and Tirley were well
attended and, on the basis of the discussions held, welcomed by local
residents. We received useful feedback on the two potential sites
identified by National Grid, and indeed on alternative candidate
areas.
We have now received the views of local planning offers at Forest
of Dean, Malvern Hills and Tewkesbury which identify the alternative
candidate areas on which they wish to see further information and
discussion. We would similarly be pleased to receive any
representations that you may have in relation to site locations. We
are in the process of writing up our detailed evaluation, which will
take into account the representations received and intend to invite
yourselves and the planning officers to site inspections in the near
future.
Finally, we welcome your closing comments about
CAPRI's willingness to participate in the consultation process and
look forward to further discussion with you, and the local planning
authority representatives, regarding the site selection for the PRI.
Yours sincerely,
