Dear Mr Knight-Gregson,
Pressure Reduction Installation
We spoke on November 28 when I received
David Mercer’s letter of the previous day and the latest edition of
the Site Selection Report. I then:—
(a) repeated the request previously
made that CAPRI should have the opportunity~ to comment on the
detailed plans of the proposed PRI before the~ are submitted as part
of a abnormal planning application
b) requested an answer to the question
I asked at the meeting on October 9 about the number of vent stacks
that truly necessary to serve the proposed boilers given that only
half the total number of boilers will be in use at any one time. I
also asked if it would be possible to mitigate the visual intrusion
that will inevitably be caused by the stacks by perhaps having one
stack of larger diameter instead of the twelve stacks that were
proposed by the earlier application which was eventually dismissed on
appeal.
You then said that you would consult
with colleagues and then come back to me: I have heard nothing since.
It is clear from that Report that you
have selected the Flat Farm site for the PRI and that you will be
submitting a p1anning application accordingly to Tewkesbury Council.
I shall be grateful if I can be provided with a copy of the
application and the accompanying plans.
The Report indicates that if planning
permission is granted for the construction of the PRI on that site
then the existing AGI will be incorporated within the new PRI and the
existing site of the AGI will be closed, cleared of all equipment and
security fencing and returned to agricultural use. Please confirm
that such clearance will be completed by a date to be agreed with
Forest of Dean District Council and that once that site has been
returned to that use National Grid will accept the revocation of the
two existing planning permissions for that site in such manner as may
be agreed with that Council.
I shall be grateful if I may have a
reply to this letter by December 17.
Yours sincerely.
